Paul E. Hundley Obituary
Paul E. Hundley

AGE: 81 • Wilmington

Paul Eugene Hundley, age 81 of Wilmington, DE, passed away peacefully at home on Wednesday, September 2, 2015.

Paul was born in Altoona, PA, the son of the late Samuel and Gladys (Lannon) Hundley. He graduated from Chester High School in 1953 and went on to serve in the United States Marine Corps from 1954 - 1957. He then served with the Merchant Marines from 1957 - 1962. Upon the completion of his service, he married Irene Redecki in 1962. They were happily married for 40 years until her passing in 2002. Paul retired from Chrysler in 1999, working on the assembly line for 19 years. Prior to his career with Chrysler, he worked for Electric Hose and Rubber.

It was by the grace of God that during the last 11 years of Paul's life, he was lovingly embraced by the Ford family: Linda, Charlie, David, Kristi, Aleceya and Lauren, and several nieces, nephews and friends that affectionately referred to him as "Poppy". They loved and cared about him very much and were blessed that Paul chose them to be his family.

Paul enjoyed trips to California to Camp Pendleton and to Charlotte and Florida. He loved spending time in Cape May, NJ with Linda and her granddaughters. Paul liked to eat out at restaurants, especially Red Lobster; going to the movies; and enjoyed listening to music by Frank Sinatra, Dean Martin and Elvis Presley.

He was a proud marine and loved to reminisce about his time served. Anyone who knew him will remember his favorite saying, "Semper Fi, Baby"; and "Marines never die, they just fade away".

In addition to his parents and beloved wife, Paul was preceded in death by his brother, Donald; and his sister, Edith Cecconi.

He is survived by the Ford family and several nieces, nephews and extended family.

A special "thank you" to the caring nurses and aides from Seasons Hospice, especially nurse Beth and aide Sherrie; and Paul's private aide, Rhonda Petrucci.

A memorial service will take place at 2:30pm on Tuesday, September 8, 2015 in the Queen of the Apostles Chapel in Cathedral Cemetery, 2400 Lancaster Avenue, Wilmington, DE 19805, where family and friends may visit beginning at 1:45pm.

In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to the , PO Box 1893, Memphis, TN 38101.
