R. Catherine Foster

"Catty"

R. Catherine "Catty" Foster, age 93, of North East, MD, passed away Tuesday, November 17, 2015. Born in Elkton, MD, on September 10, 1922, she was the daughter of the late Charles H. and Nellie Finn Heath.

During World War II, Mrs. Foster was an operator for C&P Telephone. Following the war, she became a mother and worked for North East Pharmacy, as well as assisted her husband with Foster's Exxon. Mrs. Foster and her late husband were instrumental in raising funds for the construction of St. Jude Catholic Church, North East. She was a member of St. Jude Catholic Church, the Blessed Virgin Mary Sodality and the Friends of Villa Aviat. Mrs. Foster enjoyed bowling.

Survivors include her children, P. Marilyn Martin (Donald), Milton, DE, Kay Marlene McClure (Dr. David), Bel Air, MD, and Charles E. Foster, North East, MD; 5 grandchildren, and 5 great-grandchildren.

In addition to her parents, Mrs. Foster was preceded in death by her husband of 38 years, Frederick Foster; daughters, Darlene Foster and Deborah Ann Stroupe; and sisters, Anna Mary Smith and Betty Marie Pomichalek.

Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m., Friday, November 20, 2015, at St. Jude Catholic Church, 928 Turkey Point Road, North East, MD, where visitation will begin at 10 a.m. Interment will be in Immaculate Conception Cemetery, Cherry Hill, MD.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to St. Jude Catholic Church, in care of Hicks Home for Funerals, 103 W. Stockton Street, Elkton, MD 21921.
