Randolph J. "Randy" Rainey Obituary
Randolph J. "Randy" Rainey

AGE: 49 • Hockessin

Randolph J. "Randy" Rainey, age 49, of Hockessin, DE, passed away unexpectedly on August 10, 2016.

Born in Kingston, PA, Randy was a graduate of Christiana High School Class of 1985, as well as the University of Delaware, where he received a BA degree in Communications and an MBA degree. For the past 20 years, Randy worked for JPMorgan Chase, most recently as an Information Technology Project Manager.

Randy's wife and children were near and dear to his heart. He found many ways to create special one on one time with each of them, so they would know how precious and loved they were by him. He never broke a promise.

In his spare time, Randy enjoyed fishing, boating and golfing. He loved spending time at the beach, especially during frequent family trips to Sea Isle City and annual trips to Myrtle Beach to visit his father.

Randy will be remembered for his love of his family, his amazing strength of character, his loyalty to his friends, his incredible work ethic, and his infectious personality. Still waters run deep, and that is what Randy was. His quiet gentleness concealed a passionate heart for those he loved.

Randy is survived by his wife of 12 years, Marianne H. (Harper) Rainey; his children, Ben, Luke and Hope Rainey; his father, Ronald G. Rainey; his mother, Rosabelle M. Rainey; his brothers, Richard L. Rainey (Julia), Robert A. Rainey (Thao Truong), and Ronald D. Rainey (Margaret); as well as many nieces and nephews.

A viewing will be held on Monday, August 15 from 5 to 7 PM and again on Tuesday, August 16 from 10 to 11 AM at Doherty Funeral Home, 3200 Limestone Rd., Wilmington, DE 19808. A Celebration of Randy's Life will be held on Tuesday, August 16 at 11 AM at the funeral home. Interment will follow at All Saints Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Rainey Children's College Memorial Fund, held under the name of Marianne Rainey at the Hockessin, Delaware branch of TD Bank. TD Bank address: 7330 Lancaster Pike, Hockessin, DE, 19707.
