Regina Ann Graney Obituary
Regina Ann Graney

AGE: 88 • Wilmington

Regina passed away peacefully on March 19, 2016.

Regina was a native Wilmingtonian. She attended St. Paul Elementary School and graduated from Wilmington High School in 1945. She finished the Nursing Program at Memorial Hospital in 1948 and became a Registered Nurse and then earned her Bachelor of Science Degree in Education in 1979 from Millersville State College. Regina began her nursing career as a visiting nurse for the Delaware Board of Health where she helped women with high-risk pregnancies. She spent most of her career as a school nurse in the Brandywine School District. Many of those years were spent at Lombardy Elementary School. Regina loved her students, and was thrilled when she would meet them again long after she retired.

Regina loved her family, missed those who went before her, and always shared so many great memories of her brothers Hubert, Joseph, and William Graney, her sister Marie Graney, and her parents William J. Graney and Mary V. Lannan-Graney.

She is survived by her sister Katherine Glazier of Wilmington, and many Graney cousins, nieces and nephews, too many to mention.

Regina's family would like to thank the residents, their families, and the entire staff of the Shipley Manor Health Center where she spent the last months of her life. Regina's physical health was the top priority of the therapy, medical, nursing and housekeeping departments at Shipley Manor. Regina's happiness was the top priority of the dining and activities departments there. Her family will be forever grateful to them all.

Mass of Christian Burial will be offered on Wednesday March 23, 2016 at 11:00 am at St. Elizabeth's Catholic Church, corner of Cedar and Clayton Streets Wilmington, DE, where friends and family may call beginning at 10:00 am. Interment will follow Mass in Cathedral Cemetery.
