Richard Alexander Joyeusaz Obituary
Richard Alexander Joyeusaz

AGE: 95 • Dover

Richard Alexander Joyeusaz of Dover passed away Friday, September 2, 2016 at Kent General Hospital. He was 95. His family prays he has been reunited with the love of his life, Doris May Bell Joyeusaz, his wife of 65 years.

Richard was born in New Jersey to the late Napoleon Joyeusaz and Adele C. Newnam; however, he spent most of his 95 years in his beloved Dover and Fenwick Island. He graduated with a BA from the University of Delaware. However, his academic career was interrupted as he served in Army Military Intelligence during World War II. He was recalled during the Korean crisis. Richard's professional career for many years was as co-owner and manager of Nap and Spence Furniture in Dover. After retiring, he enjoyed a second career as a realtor. Richard was an amazing source of information on anything concerning historic Dover or Fenwick Island. He was an avid bridge player and collected antiques, always on the hunt for the next amazing find.

He is preceded in death by his parents and his wife.

He is survived by two brothers, Eddie of Chevy Chase, MD and Charlie of Jacksonville FL; his daughter, Dr. Renee Young and her husband David of Jacksonville FL; grandchildren Dr. Geoffrey Young of Jacksonville FL and Brooke Young Stout of Tiburon CA; great grandchildren, Avery, Lily, Georgia May Stout, and Joshua Sharp/Young; as well as many wonderful neighbors and friends.

Services will be private.

In lieu of flowers the family suggests contributions be made to restoring the WWII tower within the Delaware Seashore State Park at or Restore the Tower, c/o Delaware Seashore Preservation Foundation, PO Box 981, Ocean View DE 19970.
