Born on August 30, 1935 he was the son of the late Charles W. and Elsie Kane. A contractor and master carpenter, Dick was the owner and operator of James. W. Flaherty, Inc. and later Kane Enterprises which he ran until his retirement.

The family would like to thank the staff of unit 2D at Christiana Hospital for their devotion and compassionate care.
