Richard T. "Dick" Dayton

AGE: 62 • Newark

Richard T. "Dick" Dayton, age 62, of Newark, DE, passed away peacefully while surrounded by his family on Tuesday, December 8, 2015.

Dick was born in Harrisburg, PA on October 2, 1953, and was a son of the late Herbert S., Jr. and Margaret (Cosgrove) Dayton. He made his career as a maintenance mechanic with Action Mailers in Aston, PA.

Dick was a longtime parishioner of Holy Family R.C. Church in Newark where he was a member of the Knights of Columbus. He was an avid bowler and enjoyed league play at Blue Hen Lanes. Active in his community, Dick gave of his time and talents as a dedicated volunteer to various ALS charity functions. He was a devoted and loving husband, father, brother, grandfather, uncle and friend and will be very dearly missed by all who knew him.

Dick is survived by his loving wife of 42 years, Carroll (Cole) Dayton; children, Stephanie Dayton Walker (Bill) and Richard T. Dayton, Jr.; brothers, Spencer Dayton (Carroll), Bob Dayton (Teri) and Jeff Dayton (Pat); sisters, Liz Bowman (Rob), Carol Byerly (Alan) and Margaret Dayton (Everett); grandchildren, Camryn, Mason, Evan, Jagon, Rylee and Callan; and many nieces, nephews and great friends.

A memorial mass will be held 11 am on Monday morning, December 28, 2015, at Holy Family R.C. Church, E. Chestnut Hill and Gender Roads, Newark, DE, where a visitation for family and friends will be held from 10 am until 11 am. Interment will be private.

In lieu of flowers, contributions in Dick's memory may be made to the ALS Hope Foundation, P.O. Box 40777, Philadelphia, PA 19107.
