Robert C. Walls Obituary
Robert C. Walls

AGE: 63 • Wilmington

Bob Walls passed away peacefully into the arms of the Lord after a twenty-four day stay at Christiana Hospital SICU after sustaining a heart attack and car accident trauma. Bob's valiant spirit remained true until the end, and was an inspiration to all those who witnessed his battle.

Bob, a native Delawarean, grew up in Stanton. Saying Bob was a hard worker was an understatement. Starting at a young age, he worked a paper route and was a delivery person for the Stanton Pharmacy. As a young adult, he was employed by Chrysler and after several years he left to attend Embry Riddle Aeronautical University ('82), Daytona Beach, FL where he proudly earned his degree in Aviation Maintenance Technology and his Airframe & Powerplant License. He loved the aviation industry.

Bob then worked at JCPenney where he managed the shoe department and sharpened his leadership skills. In the late 1980's Bob found his job in the aviation field as an Airframe and Powerplant mechanic, and then later in the Estimating and Contracts department that he eventually supervised at Dassault Falcon Jet (formerly Atlantic Aviation) at the Wilmington Airport. He will be deeply missed by the aviation community.

Bob dedicated his life to his family as a provider, protector, and faithful servant to the Lord. He is survived by his "girls" and his "son-son"…wife Barbara Chanda Walls, daughter Laura Walls, and dog Buddy. As a family, they especially enjoyed their times at the DE beaches and family reunions. Bob & Barb dreamt of retiring and moving to Lewes Beach. Bob & Laura's favorite father-daughter pastimes included watching sports, playing sports, and anything car related. Bob had owned several Corvettes in his younger years.

Bob is also survived by his loving sisters and their husbands, Mary Ellen (Chip) Gruber of Wilmington, DE and Jennifer (Andy) Houston of Seattle, WA, numerous brother in-laws, sister in-laws, nieces and nephews. He was the only son and eldest child of the late Clarence Walls & Virginia Murray Walls.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend his viewing on Monday, September 28, from 5-7 PM at the Doherty Funeral Home, 3200 Limestone Road, Wilmington. All are invited to his funeral Mass at St. John the Beloved Catholic Church, 907 Milltown Road, Wilmington on Tuesday, September 29 at 10 AM. Burial will follow at All Saints Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions to Saint John the Beloved Parish Christmas & Easter Decorations Fund (address above) or CYM Athletics Fund, 1626 N Union Street, Wilmington, DE 19806.
