AGE: 74 • Newark

Robert E. Nobles, age 74, of Newark, DE, passed away peacefully on November 13, 2016 with his loving family by his side. Born in New Bern, NC, he was the son of the late Pompey and Pearl Nobles.

Bob was a veteran of the U.S. Navy serving during the Vietnam War. After 20 years in the Navy, he retired as a Chief Petty Officer. Upon retirement, Bob worked as a maintenance supervisor at AstraZeneca for 25 years. He was also a member of Moose Lodge #1578 in New Castle. Bob was a former President and very active with the Mended Hearts Organization at Christiana Hospital.

In his spare time, Bob loved spending time out in the yard, as well as working out at Pike Creek Fitness Center. He was an avid University of Delaware Football fan, where he enjoyed tailgating as a season ticket holder.

Bob will be remembered for his very nice, pleasant, yet outgoing demeanor.

Bob is survived by his loving wife of 46 years, Gail T. (Tathwell) Nobles; his son, Douglas T. Crawford (Lori), his daughters, Linda M. Lang and Naomi S. Lang ; his brother, Kenneth Nobles (Lillie); his sister, Betty "Sue" Bizzell (James); his 7 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren; as well as many loving nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by his parents, his daughter, Jenny E. Crawford and his brother, Warren Nobles.

Relatives and friends may visit on Thursday, November 17 from 10 to 11 AM at Doherty Funeral Home, 3200 Limestone Rd., Wilmington, DE 19808, where a Celebration of Bob's Life will begin at 11 AM. Interment will be private.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Mended Hearts Organization- Chapter 198, 200 Continental Dr., Suite 101, Newark, DE 19713.
