AGE: 85 • New Castle

Robert Edward Anthony, age 85, of New Castle, DE went home to the Lord on May 23, 2017. He was born in Kalkaska, MI to the late Henry and Myrtle Anthony. Bob proudly served in the U. S. Air Force from 1951-1955 and met his wife, Ann Marie Holliday, while he was stationed at the Dover Air Force base. Bob worked as an air craft mechanic and a test pilot, retiring from Atlantic Aviation after 37 years. He had an incredible work ethic and worked part time for the Delaware City police force and Prices Bowling Lanes. Bob was an avid golfer and bowler, and was active in many bowling leagues serving as president and treasurer. He served as the financial secretary for Knights of Columbus Council #7608 and treasurer of the New Castle Senior Social Club for over 20 years. After retiring, he did handyman work and arts and crafts. Bob was a devoted family man and lovingly raised his children alone after the death of his wife Ann Marie. He married his second wife, Emily J. Jedlicka Anthony in 1988.

Bob is survived by his children: Steven Anthony (Yingji Piao), Donna Knight (Bruce) and Roberta Riccio; his brother, George Anthony (Io); sisters, Betty Lou Seabolt, and Dorothy June Robbins (Don) ; 8 grandchildren; and 10 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his first and second wives, Ann Marie and Emily; his children, Michael Anthony and Annette Hendrickson; and sister, Janna Mae Penny.

A visitation will be held on Thursday, June 1 from 10-11 AM at the Lighthouse Baptist Church, 1842 Otts Chapel Road, Newark, DE 19702 followed by a service in celebration of Bob's life at 11 AM. Burial will follow at Old St. Paul's Catholic Cemetery in Delaware City, DE. In lieu of flowers, donations are suggested to www.smiletrain.org.
