Robert Eugene Cole Obituary
Robert Eugene Cole

AGE: 87 • Wilmington

Robert E. Cole, a longtime resident of Brandywine Hundred, died at his home on April 29, 2016 after being lovingly cared for by his family during a five year battle with Alzheimers Disease.

Bob was born in Philadelphia to Francis and Ruth Cole and graduated from Drexel University with a Bachelor's Degree in Engineering. After Drexel, he earned the designation as a Professional Engineer and then proudly served in the United States Army - where he used his engineering background in the service of our country. After his honorable discharge from the Army, Bob continued his education, and received his MBA from the University of Delaware. Bob spent his career working as a Civil Engineer, and then, after retirement, he worked as a realtor at ERA Cole Realty, the business founded by his wife.

As a U of D graduate, he was an avid Blue Hens football fan and was a season ticket holder on the 50 yard line for many years. He loved animals, especially dogs, and he spent many summer seasons at his Fenwick Island home. Above all, however, his family was his first priority and they will always remember him as a loving, peaceful and calm husband, father and grandfather - a true gentleman.

Bob is survived by Peggy, his wife of 66 years; and their 2 children - Robert F. Cole (Amy) and Judy Kolodgie (Rich); 3 grandchildren: Francis Cole (Julia), and Laura and Michael Kolodgie; and 2 great-grandchildren, Emma and Maggie Cole.

A visitation will be held from 9:30 - 10:30 am, Friday, May 6 at the McCrery & Harra Funeral Home, 3924 Concord Pike, Talleyville (Route 202, south of Silverside Rd.), followed at 11:00am by a Mass of Christian Burial at St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church, 901 N. DuPont Street. Entombment will be at Gracelawn Memorial Park. Messages of condolence may be sent to www.mccreryandharra.com
