The Reverend Robert G. Bolt, 84 of Hockessin, DE died on Sunday, October 16, 2016 at his home in Cokesbury Village.

Robert graduated from Westminster College and Pittsburgh Theological Seminary. He started his ministry as the Assistant Pastor for Hebron U.P. Church of Penn Hills, PA; 1959-1963, and then served as the Organizing Pastor for Heritage U.P. Church of North Hills, PA; 1964-1968. In 1968, he became a member of New Castle Presbytery when he joined the staff of Synod of the Chesapeake as Associate Field Director in Christian Education. In that role he served in the presbyteries of: Baltimore, National Capital and New Castle, working with the Synod divisions of Education and Christian Education Committees of all three presbyteries.

When the Synod of the Chesapeake became the Synod of the Piedmont, Robert became the Consultant for Congregational Development on the staff at New Castle Presbytery in 1974 in which he served 55 churches. That title later changed to Associate Executive Presbyter. Robert believed in justice and equality and was a part of the coalition known as "More Light", Presbyterian USA churches committed to the involvement of all people, regardless of sexual orientation. He also was a voice for gender and racial equality within and outside of the church. Robert retired in 1997 after 40 years of service to community.

In addition to his service to community, Robert adored his beloved, the late Doris Anderson Bolt and his three children: James and John both of Delaware and Carol of Seattle, Washington. Robert was a true creative spirit: a trombone player, singer, visual artist, photographer, writer and gardener.

A service in remembrance of Robert will be held at Cokesbury Village, 726 Loveville Road, Hockessin DE 19707 on October 27, 2016 at 6:30 pm. In lieu of flowers the family suggests donations: First & Central Presbyterian Church's Youth fellowship: "The Corner Table", 1101 N Market St, Wilmington, DE 19801, The church runs a teaching kitchen where youth who are aging out of foster care are taught the skills to prepare healthy meals for themselves and to share with their community.
