AGE: 97 • Wilmington

NOTICE: NEW SERVICE TIME. Robert Kamrath passed away peacefully, surrounded by his family on Monday, January 18, 2016.

He was born in Escanaba, MI to the late Maude (Connaher) and Robert Kamrath, where he graduated from Escanaba HS. Robert continued his education at Michigan State University where he graduated with a bachelor's degree in chemistry and played first base for the Spartan's. He worked for Hercules Incorporated as a chemist in the explosives department for 41 years, retiring in 1983. Robert was an avid reader, enjoyed working in his yard, and watching any game with Michigan State, the Yankee's and Philadelphia teams. He also watched as much of "Law and Order" as he could. What he cherished the most was the time he spent with his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Robert's wife of 51 years, Elva (Hulmes) Kamrath died in 1995. He is survived by his 3 children, Susan Kamrath, David Kamrath and Nancy Kamrath-Waters (Jack); 6 grandchildren, Drew (Jen), Todd (Jaci), Amanda, Heather, Michelle and Ryan and 4 great grandchildren, Faith, Amber, Holly and Kael. Robert is also preceded in death by his 2 siblings, Ruth Klug and Dorothy Wick and by his uncle and aunt, Herman and Ophelia Kamrath, a great influence in his life.

A memorial service will be held on Sunday, January 24, at 8pm at the McCrery & Harra Funeral Homes, 3924 Concord Pike, Wilmington, where friends may call after 7pm. Burial will be private.
