Robert Kenneth Becker, Sr.
Robert Kenneth Becker, Sr., age 77, of Wilmington, DE, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his loving family on Wednesday, October 23, 2013. He proudly served his country in the Army during the Korean War. Robert was retired from Friess Associates. He also enjoyed being the Ranger at Wilmington and Fieldstone Country Clubs for many years. Robert had a heart of gold and a contagious personality. Most of all, he cherished his family - the sunshine of his life.
Robert is survived by his loving wife of 57 years, Doris Washabaugh; his children: Robin L. Becker and wife Roni Bailey, Brenda B. Ferris and husband Charles A. Ferris, Robert K. Becker, Jr., Stephanie B. Rash and husband Mark D. Rash; 13 grandchildren; 8 great-grandchildren; 2 brothers, Earl Turpin and Joseph Becker; brothers and sisters in law and a host of nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents, Joseph E. Becker, Sr. and Jean Percy; brother, Jerry Price.
A visitation for family and friends will be held on Saturday, October 26, 2013 from 11-1:00 p.m. followed by a service at 1:00 p.m. at Strano & Feeley Family Funeral Home, 635 Churchmans Rd., Newark, DE 19702. Burial will be private at Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery at a later date. The family suggests that memorial donations be made in Robert's memory to Evergreen Center, 3000 Newport Gap Pike, Emily Bissell Hospital, Building F, Wilmington, DE 19808 or Delaware Hospice, 16 Polly Drummond Center, Newark, DE 19711.
