Robert L. Gemmill, age 84 of Millsboro, DE formerly of Newark, DE passed away on Tuesday, June 28, 2016 surrounded by his loving family at his home.

Bob was born in Wilmington, DE on August 29, 1931 son of the late John and Marguerite (Dilman) Gemmill. He was a 1949 graduate of Salesianum High School in Wilmington, DE and proudly served his country in the United States Navy during the Korean War.

Mr. Gemmill retired in 1990 from Motor Wheel Corporation of Newark, DE as the plant manager. He began his career with the company in 1957 working in the Newark plant for 24 years before transferring to the Lansing, MI plant for 10 years and finally retiring from the Akron, OH plant after being there for 3 years.

Bob was an avid surf fisherman, enjoyed woodworking creating beautiful pieces of furniture and duck decoys. He had also served as president of the Lions Club in Newark, DE.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his loving wife, Barbara Gemmill in 2007 and a brother, Wayne Gemmill. He is survived by 2 daughters, Donna Johnson and her husband Steve of Milton, DE and Alice Craig and her husband Tom of Hockessin, DE. Bob is also survived by 4 grandchildren; 1 great grandson and his best friend and neighbor, Win Stewart and his wife Arzella.

The family would like to extend their appreciation to Delaware Hospice and Tammy's Helping Hands especially Shirley Jolley for their love, care and support during Bob's illness.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, July 6, 2016 at Mary Mother of Peace Catholic Church, 30839 Mt. Joy Rd., Millsboro, DE 19966. Interment will follow at Gate of Heaven Cemetery in Dagsboro, DE.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions in Bob's name to Delaware Hospice, 100 Patriots Way, Milford, DE 19963.
