Robert Linwood Gallion

AGE: 74 • Pike Creek

Passed away on Friday, February 12, 2016 at home after a long illness. Bob was a native Delawarean born in Wilmington in October of 1941 to George Joseph "Joe" and Dorothy Biddle Gallion.

Bob graduated from Wilmington High School in 1959 and joined Delmarva Power later that year in the IBM department. It was there that he met Roberta Tobin Beeson in 1962 and they married at New Castle United Methodist Church in April 1963. Bob served in the Delaware Air National Guard from 1962 to 1968 and during that time trained as an electrician at Sheppard Air Force Base in Wichita Falls, Texas. He retired as a first class electrician from the Stations department of Delmarva Power in 1997 after 38 years of service.

Bob was a member of St. Mark's United Methodist Church beginning in 1967 and served as a Trustee. He was a 32nd degree Mason with dual membership in the Eureka-DuPont and Christiana Lodges. Bob enjoyed serving as a musician in the Nur Temple Oriental Band and was also a volunteer driver for the LPGA McDonalds tournament for many years.

Bob was a proud and loving Pop Pop to his grandchildren, Marie and Matthew, and enjoyed spending time with them at home and at the family beach house, taking them to the boardwalk at Rehoboth, and attending their school and dance events. He was an avid fan of Nascar and the Phillies.

In addition to his parents, Bob was predeceased by his mother-in-law Marian Tobin Ellis and step father-in-law L. Clark Ellis, Jr. He is survived by his loving wife of 52 years, Roberta Beeson Gallion; sons Keith Frederick Gallion (Barbara), Kenneth Edward Gallion; grandchildren Marie Elizabeth and Matthew Joseph Gallion; sister-in-law Sarah Beeson Sevy (Tommy) and step brother-in-law L. Clark Ellis III.

The family would like to thank Delaware Hospice for their support and care and also thank blood donors, whose gifts provided valuable comfort throughout Bob's illness.
