Passed away peacefully on March 15, 2016 in his 100th year. He was born in Wilmington to the late J. Thompson and Yolande deV Brown of Montchanin, Delaware. A graduate of Tower Hill School, Dartmouth College, and the Tuck School of Business. Rob began his career with the DuPont Company in the finance department in Wilmington. He then worked at the Alabama Ordnance Works in Childersburg, Alabama. Rob transferred to the Hanford Plant in Washington State as part of the Manhattan Project, in 1943. He later returned Wilmington in 1946, eventually retiring in 1967.

An active outdoors man all his life, Rob was an Eagle Scout and a Sea Scout. He was a member of a special Guard of Honor that was adjacent to President Franklin D. Roosevelt's reviewing stand at the 1933 inauguration. While at Dartmouth College, Rob was a member of the Dartmouth Outing Club and the Ledyard Canoe Club. With the Outing Club, Rob enjoyed skiing down Tuckman's Ravine on Mount Washington. He continued to ski until his 90th year visiting mountains all over the world including Colorado, Vermont, France and New Zealand. He also enjoyed sailing, tennis, and volunteering in the garden at Winterthur Museum.

Rob served on the Vestry of Christ Church Christiana Hundred. He served as a Board member and as President of the Family Service of Northern Delaware, now called Children and Families First. Rob was a founding member of the Greenville Country Club and a former member of the Recess Club, the Vic mead Hunt Club and Farmington Country Club.

In June 1941, Rob married the late Anne Lee Harrison of Hopewell, Virginia, They enjoyed many years travelling together, especially in France and England. Rob is also preceded in death by his brothers, J. Willcox and J. Glenn Brown and his sisters, Odile deV. Brown and Mary Turner Guler.

Rob in survived by his three daughters, Elizabeth T.B. Pierson, Yolande deV. and her husband, Richard A. Dobbs, and Susanna P. Fenimore; his eight grandchildren, Richard P. Fenimore, Anne H. Genova, Elizabeth F. Leeman, John C. Pierson, Jr., Renee deV. Biery, Corbin T.B. Pierson, Robert M. Fenimore, and Tucker T. Pierson; and 18 great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his sister, Ysabel deV. Dulken of Spartanburg, South Carolina.

Rob's family would like to thank the devoted nursing staff on Stonegates Health center for their wonderful care of him over the past two years.

A memorial service will be head at Christ Church Christiana Hundred on Saturday, April 9 at 11:00 am.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contribution may be made to the Dartmouth Outing Club, Dartmouth College Gift Recording Office, 6066 Development Office, Hanover NH 13755 or to Tower Hill School, 2813 West 17th Street, Wilmington, DE 19806.
