Hockessin - Robert W. S. Seeds, "Bob," 84, long time resident of Hockessin, Delaware and native Delawarean, died on April, 10, 2018 in Los Altos, California with his beloved wife, Betty, by his side. Bob and Betty relocated to Los Altos in May 2017 to be closer to their daughter Jennifer and her family.

Bob was born June 16, 1933 in Newport, Delaware, the second of three children born to Henry and Eveline Seeds. He graduated from Conrad High School in 1951. He graduated from Lehigh University with a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering in 1955. He was a proud member and past president of Sigma Nu Fraternity. He earned an MBA from the University of Delaware. Bob was employed by E.I. DuPont Co, then Spitz Laboratories, and retired from Hewlett Packard in 1990.

He is survived by his beloved Elizabeth, his high school sweetheart, love of his life and wife of 65 years. He is also survived by his beloved daughter, Amy Herndon and her husband Tim of Indianapolis, Indiana, his grandson Zachary and wife Natascha and their children Layla and Lennox. He is also survived by his beloved daughter Jennifer MacEwen and her husband David of Los Altos, California and their children Melissa and Douglas. He is survived by his brother, Thomas Seeds and wife Joanne of Millsboro, Delaware, their daughter Nicole and husband Paul and their family, and their daughter Gretchen and husband Bryson and their family. He was predeceased by his sister, Constance Wargo, and is survived by her son Keith and wife Kathy and their family and her daughter Kim and husband David and their family.

Bob's main priorities were his wife and family. His devoted involvement and significant encouragement and generosity made a profound difference in each of their lives. He adored his grandchildren and great grandchildren, deriving immense pleasure in their talents and accomplishments.

Bob relished spending time with family and friends and loved the outdoors, especially cherishing the summers he spent with his brother and their families boating, clamming, crabbing and water skiing on Rehoboth Bay. He took great pleasure in astronomy, surf fishing, gardening, bee keeping, designing and building classic period furniture, playing bridge, reading history, listening to music and the stock market.

His work ethic, sense of fairness, leadership skills, sense of humor, and loyalty to his family and friends make him unforgettable. He was an exceptional man who suffered illnesses and their attendant adversities while maintaining hope and optimism. He will be sorely missed by all who knew him.

A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, June 16, 2018 at 1:00 PM at St. James Episcopal Church in Newport, DE. Burial will be private.
