Ronald P. Kershner Obituary
Ronald P. Kershner

Age 66, an Assistant Professor at Temple University's Fox School of Business, passed away of cancer November 16, 2015 at his home in Hockessin, DE.

Ron grew up in and attended the public schools of West Reading, PA. After earning both his bachelor's and master's degrees from Penn State, he received his PhD in Statistics from Cornell University. While there, he worked with the noted statistician Walter Federer on an innovative method for analyzing data from drug studies. He then began a long career planning clinical trials for the pharmaceutical industry, collecting and analyzing data for FDA drug approval. By the time he decided to leave the corporate sector for teaching, he had over 25 years of experience in the field, having presented research at dozens of national and international conferences, and published numerous scientific papers.

Ron was an adventurous soul. He was an enthusiastic tango dancer, an avid scuba diver and also enjoyed snorkeling, running 5Ks and exploring the dining and theatre attractions of Philadelphia. Ron also had the gift of service. He enjoyed chess, and volunteered his time to mentor and teach the game to students at the Gateway Lab School. Most of all, Ron will be remembered for being a gracious host. He always made you feel welcome, cared for and comfortable, and would put on a pot of coffee for any occasion.

He is survived by his wife, Catherine Dolan; son, Jason Kershner (Karlee) and granddaughter, Kalyn Kershner, of Ewa Beach, HI; son, Seth Kershner of Lee, MA; and sister, Lorraine Fishback (Jim) of Alexandria, VA.

A memorial service will be 3:00 pm, Sunday, November 22, 2015 at Christ Church Christina Hundred, 505 Buck Road, Greenville, DE 19807. The family suggests contributions in Ron's honor to the Compassionate Care Hospice of Delaware.
