Rose Marie Donovan Obituary
Rose Marie Donovan

AGE: 86 • Wilmington

Age 86, passed away on May 18, 2016.

Rose was born in Wilmington, DE on August 16, 1929 to the late William and Ellen (Begley) Nitsche. She was a diligent and prideful worker, having been employed at Ludlow's Textile, Wilmington General Hospital, and in her favorite role in Labor and Delivery at Christiana Hospital. Unwaveringly devout in her faith, she was a longtime member of St. Elizabeth Church and a faithful viewer of EWTN. Rose was endlessly devoted to her family and possessed notable adoration for her grandchildren, nieces, and nephews, with whom she would often joyfully take trips to places such as Wildwood, Myrtle Beach, and Disneyworld. Each of them would also receive heartfelt, detailed, and personalized letters upon graduation from high school. Rose was an avid Phillies fan and enjoyed baking cakes for family and friends. She was the host to many children of St. Elizabeth School upon the end of their school day, garnering the same warmth and affection she provided.

Rose was preceded in death by her husband, Elton, and brother, Billy. She is survived by her son, Thomas (Ann); daughter, with whom she lived, Sissy Harrison; grandchildren, Keith, Melissa, Aislinn, and Bethany; great-grandchildren, Christopher, Brittany, and Alexander; great-great-grandchildren, Faith and Nevaeh; siblings, Betty Gliniak, Pat Rozanski, Joe Nitsche (Elaine), Marge Trimarco, Barbara Yarrusso (Jack), Kass DeSeta (Vince), Jackie Kempski (Jack); many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews; and her adopted daughter, Frances Gondek who provided much love and attentiveness during Rose's most recent illness.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Elizabeth RC Church, Cedar and Clayton Sts in Wilmington, on Tuesday, May 24 at 11am. Burial will follow in All Saints Cemetery. Visitation will be held at CHARLES P. ARCARO FUNERAL HOME, 2309 Lancaster Ave in Wilmington, on Monday evening, May 23 from 6-8pm. No visitation will be held on Tuesday morning prior to mass.
