Rose Marie (Hazzard) Potts

Age: 80 - Wilmington

Rose passed away at home on Tuesday, June 14, 2016, surrounded by her loving family. Rose, the daughter of the late John P. and Katherine (Kindbeiter) Hazzard, graduated from St. Elizabeth's High School, class of 1953.

She was a paraprofessional at Bush School, retiring in 1991. In addition to her profession she was a member of The Church of The Holy Child, DuPont Country Club, and volunteered at The Ronald McDonald House for Children, Hagley Museum, and Sisters of St. Francis. Besides golfing, bowling, tennis and volunteering, Rose got her greatest enjoyment spending time with her family and friends at the beach, and hosting frequent holiday parties and family dinners. Rose especially enjoyed the Friday night dinner group of 40 years - Reeds, Gioffres, and Huttons.

She was preceded in death by her infant children Katherine Cecelia, Joseph J, and Jacob Ellis, siblings John P. Hazzard, Maryann Hazzard, and Kay Henry, and in-laws Tom Henry, Doris and Ken Wissler, Jean and Lawrence Viands.

Rose is survived by her husband Jacob E. (Jack) Potts of 59 years and her children John (Kathy), Timothy (Michelle), Neal (Brenda), Michael, and Susan Griesbach (Timothy), grandchildren Katie Smith (Ben), Jacob (Whitney), Donald (Amy), Dominique Daniago, Megan Zamzow (Shawn), Michael, Christopher, Jennifer, Joseph Griesbach, and Julie Griesbach, great grandchildren, Anthony Zamzow, Emily Smith, and John III, sister-in-law Sandra Hazzard, siblings Rev. William Hazzard, Peter Hazzard (Dona), Thomas Hazzard (Cathy), Marie Rossbach (Tom), Betsy Deldeo (Tony) and many loving nieces and nephews.

Mass of Christian burial will be held Thursday, June 23 at 11 am, at The Church of The Holy Child, 2500 Naamans Road, Wilmington, DE 19810. Visitation will be held Wednesday from 6-8 pm at the church. Interment will be private.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be sent to Sisters of St. Francis, 609 Convent Rd. Aston, PA 19014.
