Rose Pellicone DiGuglielmo Obituary
Rose Pellicone DiGuglielmo

Wilmington

Rose Pellicone DiGuglielmo, age 97, passed away peacefully on March 22, 2016, surrounded by her loving family. One of nine children of Emedio and Angeline Andelli Pellicone, Rose was born in Wilmington on May 19, 1918 and she lived there all her life. She graduated from Wilmington High School and Goldey-Beacom College (known then as Beacom College). Rose began her career as a secretary working for the Red Cross for 10 years through World War II. Shortly after the war, Rose married James L. DiGuglielmo, and with him raised two children, while continuing to work in various roles, including as teacher's assistant, office support for the Kelrick and Zutz Insurance Companies, and the Graham Senior Center until the age of 85. In 2000, Rose moved into the Lorelton Retirement Community where she met new friends and enjoyed numerous daily activities, keeping her forever young. Rose, an avid Rummicub player, introduced this game to the Lorelton residents. She enjoyed nothing more than being in the company of family, traveling, reading, sharing a meal and talking around the dining room table. In 1999, Rose was predeceased by Jim, her husband of 54 years. She was also predeceased by her brothers, Tony, Jim, and Joe Pellicone; and her sisters Elizabeth "Lee" DeAngelis, Fannie Cheseroni, Yolanda Corozzi, and Norma Grossi. She is survived by her son James E. and daughter-in-law Francesca, her daughter Angela D. Chickadel and son in law John S. Chickadel; grandchildren Matthew DiGuglielmo and his wife Christine, Amy Mirolli and her husband Daniel, Andrew DiGuglielmo, Rebecca Chickadel, Emily Walker and her husband Matthew; five great-granddaughters: Jessica, Charlotte, Carmella, Julia, and Addison; her only remaining sibling, Marie Astolfi; and many loving nieces and nephews. Rose was known for her beautiful smile, positive attitude, strong opinions, great energy; and for how much she truly loved being with people. She viewed any gathering of family and friends as a party - and Rose would be there! A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, April 1, 2016 at 11:30am at St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church 9th & DuPont St. Wilm., DE. Calling hours for Mrs. DiGuglielmo are also Friday morning from 9 to 11am at the Corleto Latina Family Center, 807 N. Union St. Wilm. The family would like to thank the staff at the Lorelton for providing Rose with years of quality living as well as the staff at Compassionate Care Hospice for their amazing care and support. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations in Rose's name to Compassionate Care Hospice. 702 Wilmington Ave. Suite B, Wilm., DE 19805.
