Age 88, of Middletown Twp., PA, and formerly of Wilmington, DE, died Friday, February 15, 2008, at Riddle Memorial Hospital.
Sarah was born in Philadelphia, PA. She had been a resident of Wilmington, DE for 15 years before moving to Middletwon, Twp., PA in 2001. She graduated from Kennett High School, Class of 1938 and West Chester State Teacher College, Class of 1942. She had been employed by Kennett Consolidated School District, in Kennett Square, PA as an English and Reading Teacher for 27 years, until her retirement in 1982. Sarah was a member of Lima United Methodist Church since 2001 where she was active in various church work. A woman devoted to her family, she was a volunteer for Habitat for Humanity. She was the wife of the late James Quay.
She is survived by a son, Charles W. Patterson of Newtown Square, PA; 2 daughters, Carole Patterson of Rio Grande, NJ and Diane Patterson of Wilmington, DE; 2 step-sons, R. Douglas Quay of Allentown, PA and James Quay of California; 2 brothers, George Cutaiar of
Rochester, NY and Frank Cutaiar of Media, PA; a sister, Alice March of Media, PA; also survived by 8 grandchildren.
Funeral service, Wednesday, 11 am, at THE MINSHALL-SHROPSHIRE-BLEYLER FUNERAL HOME, Middletown (Rte 352) & Knowlton Roads, Middletown Twp., Media, PA where friends may call after 10 am. A reception at Lima United Methodist Church, 209 N. Middletown Road, Lima, PA, will immediately follow the service. Interment private.
