Sheri Lynn Thureen Obituary
Sheri Lynn Thureen

AGE: 50 • Avondale, PA

Sheri Lynn Thureen (nee Wunch), aged 50, passed away quietly at Chester County Hospital, West Chester, PA, on the morning of October 27, 2016, after a hard-fought 5 year battle with cancer.

Sheri was born October, 20, 1966 in Hartford, CT, one of four children of Richard and Judith Wunch.

She attended and graduated from Hermantown High School, where she was active in multiple varsity sports and activities. She is a 1988 graduate of Concordia College, Moorhead MN, majoring in Computer Science and Psychology, with minors in Mathematics and Spanish. She also holds Graduate degrees from the University of Delaware and Harvard University.

Most of Sheri's adult life was spent in Delaware and Pennsylvania while working for the DuPont Company and later for Computer Sciences Corporation. While employed, she also completed extended work assignments in Australia and England.

Sheri's greatest passion in life was her family, and together they enjoyed travel, the beach, the lake and being outdoors. Sheri instilled in her children a love of adventure and the belief that if you commit to something you always give your best effort. She demonstrated this with every project she tackled, whether at work or with a vast array of DIY projects at home over these last few years.

While Sheri attained a high level of professional success, she was humble at heart, never seeking the spotlight and a loyal friend to those who knew her.

She is preceded in death by her grandparents and brother, Ricky.

She is survived by her two teenage daughters, Madison and Sydney and her husband of 27 years, Dean.

She is also survived by her brothers, Michael and Tim, her parents and her In-laws, Orris and Beverly Thureen, brother-in-law, Scott (Alana), sister-in-law Diane, nieces, nephews and numerous loving relatives and friends.

A public viewing will be held at Doherty Funeral Home, 3200 Limestone Rd, Wilmington, DE 19808, on Wednesday, November 2, 2016 from 5-8 pm. A Celebration of Life, Faith and Hope will be held at Concordia Lutheran Church, 3003 Silverside Rd, Wilmington, DE 19810 on Thursday, November 3, 2016 beginning at 1pm. A Service of Interment will immediately follow at St Patrick's Cemetery, 1516 Ashland Clinton School Rd, Hockessin, DE 19707.

The family wishes to thank all of the medical professionals who cared for her throughout her illness and her friends for the countless words of encouragement.
