AGE: 84 • Townsend

Shirley Wright, 84, of Townsend, formerly of Klair Estates, Wilmington, passed away peacefully at her home on Thursday, March 13, 2014. Born in Glens Falls, NY., on July 06, 1929 daughter of the late Oscar and Blanche Salmonson.

Shirley graduated as the Valedictorian of her Class of 1947, South Glens Falls High School. Shirley relocated to Delaware with her husband Charles Wright whom preceded her in death in 1979. Shirley and Charles were married on August 13, 1950 and spent many happy years together with their children Rollin, Michele, and Chuck.

She was a member of the Cedars Church of Christ, where she attended for many years. Shirley enjoyed bowling and was on a league for many years at the Pleasant Hill Bowling Alley, she sewed and made costumes for her grandchildren as well as many of her own clothes in her early years, she also enjoyed knitting and crocheting and made sweaters for her grandchildren. Shirley enjoyed painting various kinds of woodcrafts.

Shirley liked to visit her family in New York and will be sadly missed by her sister Irene Pederson and brother Perry Salmonson both of Glens Falls, NY. Shirley was also preceded in death by her brother Carl Salmonson and her sister Marie Stearns. She is survived by her son Rollin Wright and his wife Sue of Townsend, daughter Michele Walters and her husband Steve of Townsend, and son Chuck Wright of Bear, and 7 grandchildren Mike, Chip, David, Sarah, Perry, Zachary, and Holly.

Family and friends are invited to attend funeral services on Monday, March 17, 2014 at 8 pm at the Daniels & Hutchison Funeral Home, 212 North Broad Street, Middletown, DE 19709. Visitation will be from 7-8 pm. Interment will be private. Online condolences can be sent at
