AGE: 86 • Newark

Passed away on Sunday, November 6, 2016 at St. Francis Hospital.

He was born at 704 South Franklin Street, Wilmington on May 14, 1930 to the late Harry J. Sr. and Gertrude E. (Bogucki) Banack. Stan attended St. Elizabeth's School for 8 years and served as an altar boy for 6 years. He was a 1948 graduate of Wilmington High School. After school, he worked for General Electric Supply Corp. from 1948 to 1953. He then worked for the Chrysler Newark Assembly Plant in the accounting department for 35 years until his retirement in December 1988. Stan served in the Delaware National Guard with the 262nd Ordinance Company from 1947 to 1946 attaining the rank of Sergeant 1st Class. He was a member of St. Joseph on the Brandywine Catholic Church and a former member of St. Luke Catholic Church in Ocean City, MD, Holy Family Church in Newark and St. Elizabeth Church in Wilmington. He enjoyed all sports and bowled at the Claymore Senior Center Bowling League.

Stan was predeceased by his beloved and most dear wife of 45 wonderful years, Barbara A. (Bottger) Banack on January 17, 2002. He was also predeceased by his brother Harry J. Banack, Jr. and sisters, May Kotkowski , Helen Garton and Stella Zebroski .

Stan is survived by his three sons, Stanley W. Banack and wife Mary of Wilmington, Steven and wife Cynthia of Magnolia, DE and Mark of Canadensis, PA; his five grandchildren Jenna, Stanley II, Rebecca, Steven, and Philip; two great grandsons, Jordin and Justin; his sister, Caroline T. Kelley of Newark, and brother-in-law James F. Long of Seaford; along with many nieces and nephews. Stan is also survived by his most dearest companion, Joan L. Mayhart and her family since 2002.

Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:30 on Friday, November 11th at. St. Elizabeth Church, Cedar and Clayton Streets, Wilmington. Visitation in the church will begin after 10:30 AM. Interment will follow at All Saints Cemetery, Wilmington.
