Stephen Bijansky

AGE: 71 • New Castle

Stephen Bijansky, age 71, of New Castle, DE, passed away peacefully on Saturday, October 31, 2015.

Born in Strasskirchen, Germany on January 7, 1944, Stephen was a son of the late Wasyl Bijanskyj and Eva (Skochylas) Bijanskyj. He proudly served as a member of the U.S. Army for 3 years, mostly in Germany and achieved the rank of sergeant before being honorably discharged. Stephen made his career as a manager with Hercules, retiring after many years of dedicated employment.

A devout Catholic, he was a parishioner of Our Lady of Fatima R.C. Church in New Castle for the last 40 years and volunteered his time by assisting with the church's June Fair and Christmas Bazaar. Stephen enjoyed golfing and bowling in his leisure time. A devoted and loving family man, his greatest joy was spending time with his precious grandchildren, whether he was taking them bowling or just sharing playtime with them.

In addition to his parents, Stephen was preceded in death by his brother, Donald Bijansky. He is survived by his beloved wife of 45 years, Jacqueline (Cardamone) Bijansky; children, Stephen Bijansky, Jr. (Devon) of Austin, TX, Kenneth Bijansky of New Castle, DE and Elizabeth Reed (Richard) of Wilmington, DE; brothers, Luka Bijanskyj (Helen) of Spring Hill, FL and William Bijansky (Charlotte) of Claymont, DE; and grandchildren, Isabella, Richie, Christian, Brendan and Gavin.

A visitation for family and friends will be held from 6 pm until 8 pm on Wednesday evening, November 4, 2015 at the Spicer-Mullikin Funeral Home, 1000 N. DuPont Parkway, New Castle, DE. Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 11 am on Thursday morning, November 5, 2015, at Our Lady of Fatima R.C. Church, 801 N. DuPont Parkway, New Castle, DE. Interment will follow in All Saints Cemetery, 6001 Kirkwood Highway, Wilmington, DE.
