Theodore "Teddy" Spang Obituary
Theodore "Teddy" Spang

AGE: 75 • Wilmington

Theodore E. Spang, Jr. (Teddy) passed away peacefully on September 23, 2016 surrounded by family, after a one year battle with esophageal cancer. Teddy was born March 26, 1941 in Wilmington, DE to German immigrants, Theodore Sr. and Lena Spang. A lifelong resident of Wilmington, he graduated from Conrad High School in 1959. As a young man, he worked on a farm and enjoyed riding his motorcycle. He became a master plumber and worked independently for several years and, in 1980, he opened his own plumbing contracting business, Rabspan, Inc., which he proudly ran until recently. He built a beautiful home for his family and was especially proud of the radiant heating system that he designed and installed.

Teddy had an insatiable sweet tooth; he made the best sweet baked beans one could imagine. He loved watching football games, fishing, and playing craps at Delaware Park. He also had a keen eye for items left on the side of the road - he found many sets of keys and wallets and always found a way to deliver them to their rightful owners. Teddy was a proud republican and voted in all elections despite Delaware being a predominantly blue state. He wanted his voice to be heard and took his right to vote seriously.

Teddy was blessed in his life with wonderful friends and a loving family. He is survived by a son, five daughters, ten grand children and many nieces and nephews. He will be remembered for his strength, generosity, and kind spirit.

A visitation will be held Saturday, October 1, 2016 from 9:30-10:30 AM in the Strano & Feeley Family Funeral Home, 635 Churchmans Rd., Newark, DE 19702 followed by a service in celebration of Teddy's life at 10:30 AM. Burial will follow in Gracelawn Memorial Park. For directions or to send an online condolence visit www.stranofeeley.com
