Therese Curran passed away peacefully on September 4, 2016. She was born on June 3, 1930 to the late Hugh E. Curran Sr. and Marie Donahue Curran.

She was predeceased by her brother, Hugh E. Curran Jr. and Hugh's wife, Ruth and her sister Rose Marie Curran as well as her nephew Patrick McGinty.

She leaves behind two sisters Elizabeth LaRocca (Sebastian) and Margaret McGinty (Robert), two nieces Rose M. Mili and Valerie Warburton and three nephews, Shawn Curran (Terri), Shane Curran and Hugh Curran (Mary).

Therese graduated from St. Francis School of Nursing and subsequently received her Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing from the University of Pennsylvania.

She served a term as President of the Delaware Nurses Association and was appointed by Governor Sherman W. Tribbitt to a three year term to the Delaware Board of Nursing.

Therese felt honored to be appointed Head Nurse of the first Intensive Care Unit in the State of Delaware at Memorial Hospital. She had numerous medical responsibilities with most of her dedication being to Clinical Care.

She was also active in the American Nurses Association and was elected the First Vice Chairman of the Head Nurse Branch and served on the General Welfare and Economic Security Committee.

Therese was involved in the many changes that took place with the merging of the three Wilmington hospitals. After more than 40 years of service she retired from Christiana Care.

Therese was a gourmet cook, adept with a needle and thread and enjoyed gatherings with family and her close friends. She was a lifelong member of Christ Our King Parish.

A visitation for family and friends will be held in Christ Our King Church, 28th & Monroe Sts., Wilmington, DE on Saturday, September 10, 2016, 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. Mass of the Christian Burial will be at 10:30 a.m. following the viewing. Interment will follow after Mass at Cathedral Cemetery, Lancaster Ave, Wilmington, DE.
