AGE: 95 • Wilmington, Del

Thomas Andrew Sullivan, age 95, of Wilmington, Delaware formerly of Ardmore, Pennsylvania died on Friday, June 3, 2016 at the Stonegates Community.

Tom was the only son of Andrew and Mary Sullivan. He was a graduate of Lower Merion High in Ardmore, PA, a graduate of Villanova University in Economics and a graduate of the University of Pennsylvania where he received his Wharton MBA. He was a lifelong member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants. Tom remained an avid Villanova basketball fan his entire life and even celebrated this year's national championship. He was also very influenced by the Augustinian priests of Villanova University.

Tom served in the U.S. Army 83rd Infantry during WWII from 1942 to 1945. He received 4 Bronze Star Medals for heroic and meritorious achievement in Northern France, Ardennes, Rhineland and Central Europe. He attended many of his army reunions.

In 1949 Tom moved to Wilmington to start his 32 year career with the DuPont Co in the treasury department, specializing in state and federal tax accounting, foreign banking and property accounting. Tom was a member of St. Mary Magdalen Parish for over 60 years, supporting the school where all of his children attended. Tom was a wonderful father and single parent, attending many sports and school activities. He was a very wise man, bestowing kindness and sage advice to us all.

Tom is predeceased by his beloved wife, Maryellen (O'Boyle) who died in 1970 after 19 years of marriage. He is survived by his four children, Kathryn (Robert) Procopio from Wilmington, DE; Ellen (Jack) Miller from Albany, NY; Thomas Andrew (Kim) Sullivan from Wilmington, DE and Charles (Ginger) Sullivan from Wilmington, DE; nine grandchildren, Christine (Stephen) Johnson, Richard Procopio, Thomas Procopio, Ashley Miller (William) Schurmann, Meredith (Luke) Chapman, Jessica Sullivan, Thomas Sullivan, MariAnne Sullivan, Clay Miller and two great-grandchildren, Finley Ellen Schurmann and Julian Thomas Johnson.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Wednesday, June 8, 2016 at 10:30 AM at St. Mary Magdalen Catholic Church, 7 Sharpley Road, Wilmington, DE 19803 where friends may call on the family beginning at 10:00 AM. Interment will follow in the Calvary Cemetery, Conshohocken, PA.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Villanova University, 800 E. Lancaster Ave., Villanova, PA 19085.
