Thomas G. Moore

Age 90, of Wilmington, DE, passed away peacefully at Christiana Hospital on Tuesday, November 6, 2012.

Born in Shamokin, PA, Tom was the son of the late William and Winifred (Bararosse) Moore. He served his country proudly during World War II in the Eighth Division Army Air Corp where he flew 32 missions and earned the Flying Cross and five additional air medals. Tom also was awarded the Oak Leaf Cluster.

After returning to home, he graduated from Bucknell University and earned his Master's Degree at the University of Pennsylvania. Tom was a teacher and Principal of De La Warr High School. He was then employed by the Red Clay School District as Vice-Principal of McKean High School and Principal of Brandywine Springs Junior High School. His memberships included the American Legion and the VFW Diamond State Post. He was also a 50 year member of the Nanticoke and Masonic Lodge.

He will be dearly missed by his wife of 37 years, Mary Davis Moore (Murphy); his son and daughter-in-law, William and Kate Moore of Largo, FL and Thomas G. Moore Jr.; his granddaughter, Kimberly Siguory and her husband Cory and their children, Hunter and Sky. Also surviving are his stepchildren, Kathleen Davis of Hockessin, Cynthia Ritthaler (Harry) of Milton, DE and Elizabeth Davis of Wilmington; step-grandchildren who all fondly called him Tom-Tom, Mark Davis (Jennifer), Daniel Davis (Lety), Megan and Clark Running; and step-great-grandchildren, Justin Farrow and Sofia, Christian and Alexis Davis. His sister-in-law, Anne M. Binder, also survives him.

Memorial services will be celebrated on Wednesday, November 14 at 1 pm at Mealey Funeral Home, 2509 Limestone Road, Wilmington. Interment will be private. Any donations may be made to Wounded Warriors, PO Box 758516, Topeka, KS 66675.
