Vincent "Vinnie" P. Harkins

Age 57 of Wilmington, passed away on July 17, 2016. Vinnie was born in Wilmington, DE on March 31, 1959 to the late Marie and Robert A. Harkins, Sr. A diligent worker, he had been employed at Polymer Technologies, Harkins Electric, and the Huber Baking Company, and had also been a Warehouse Manager with Sears. Vinnie possessed a deep love for animals and his backyard often became sanctuary for them. He also found joy in gardening, fishing, and stargazing. An avid football fan, he was also a passionate supporter of the San Diego Chargers. Vinnie will forever be remembered by all who knew him for his gentle and loving nature.

Vinnie is survived by his devoted wife of 34 years, Cindy, to whom he was the love of her life; siblings, Marie T. "Bonnie", Michael J., Thomas J., Stephen (Sharren), and Susan Wilkins; brother-in-law, Joseph Evans (Lisa); a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and extended family and friends; and his beloved cat, Oreo. He was preceded in death by his siblings, Robert A. Jr, Jeanne, and Joseph (Julie Beth); and mother-in-law, Helen Evans.

Visitation will be held at the CHARLES P. ARCARO FUNERAL HOME, 2309 Lancaster Ave in Wilmington, on Saturday, July 23 from 10am-12noon. A Mass of Christian Burial will then celebrated at St. Ann Church, 2013 Gilpin Ave in Wilmington, at 12:30pm. Burial will be held privately at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the Delaware Humane Association, 701 A Street, Wilmington, DE 19801 and/or to Tri State Bird Rescue and Research, 170 Possum Hollow Rd, Newark, DE 19711.
