Walter E. "Wally" Purzycki

AGE: 64 • Wilmington

Walter E. "Wally" Purzycki passed away unexpectedly at his home, due to complications of diabetes, on Tuesday, February 16, 2016.

Wally was born and raised in Wilmington and is the son of Edward Purzycki, Sr. and the late Pearl (Sontowski). He graduated for St. Elizabeth High School in 1969 and the University of Delaware in 1973 were he was a brother of the Delta Upsilon. Wally was the Director of Apprenticeship for the State of Delaware and owner of Brandywine Waterproofing Company. He was an avid Cowboy's fan and sports

aficionado, which involved softball and football officiating. Wally was a master drummer with the band The Mellow Brew.

Wally is survived by his wife of 23 years, Christine (Sandstrom) Purzycki; a son, Michael, a full time student at New York Maritime College and 2 siblings, Maria Jogani (Suken) and Edward Purzycki, Jr.

A viewing will be held on Friday, February 19, from 6-8 pm, at the McCrery & Harra Funeral Homes, 3710 Kirkwood Hwy(at Duncan Rd.) A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, February 20, at 10:30 am at St. John the Beloved Church, 907 Milltown Road, Wilmington, DE. Burial will follow at All Saints Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to help with Michael's college fees. Make donations payable to Michael Purzycki and send to, Wells Fargo, 2624 Capital Trail, Newark, DE 19711.
