Walter Joseph Zerbe Obituary
Walt Zerbe died peacefully at home November 26, 2012. He was born March 16, 1926 in Kulpmont, PA. He joined the Marines at the age of 16, and served his country during WWII in the Pacific Theater with Roosevelt's Raiders. After his discharge, he went to school under the G.I. Bill and studied engineering.

Over his lifetime, Walter lived in California, Florida, and Delaware, and worked for several companies - Sun Ship Dry Dock, GE, Boeing, Gambacorta, and DuPont Edgemoor, as well as substitute teaching. While at Edgemoor, he met the love of his life, Lyn and they were married April 2, 1977. Together they loved to travel, cook, entertain, and spend time with close friends at Rosemont Campground in the Poconos, and were both members of the University of DE's Lifelong Learning Band.

He was an active member of Hope Lutheran Church, enjoying both the choir and ushering. He was also a member of the Lions Club.

Walter was predeceased by Lyn, his wife of 32 years, and his step daughter Audrey. He is survived by his son, Kurt Zerbe and his wife Melissa, of Hobe Sound, FL, his adopted daughter Rebecca Ann Zerbe of Bear, DE, his step-son Jeff Rivenbark and his wife Susan of Wilmington, DE, and 5 grandchildren.

Viewing will be at Mealey Funeral Home, 2509 Limestone Rd., from 11am to 1pm on Saturday, December 1st. A Celebration of Life service will be held at 2pm at Hope Lutheran Church, 230 Christiana Road, New Castle. Burial will be Monday, December 3rd at 10am at the Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery, 2465 Chesapeake City Road, Bear.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Smile Train, or the Delaware Food Bank.
