AGE: 71 • Woodland Beach (Smyrna)

William A. Foster, of Woodland Beach, passed away on Sunday March 6, 2016 at Bayhealth Medical Center, Dover. He was 71.

He was born in Wilmington, the son of the late James W. and Dorothy Foster. Bill attended William Penn H.S. in New Castle, and was drafted into the Army where he served in Germany during the Vietnam conflict.

He was employed as a steelworker for Forbes Steel and Wire (later Insteel Wire), of Wilmington, for 45 years before retiring in 2007.

He greatly enjoyed hunting, fishing, and watching his grandchildren participate in sports.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a grandson, Michael Sethman; a great-grandson, Jared Moore; and two brothers, John and Steven Foster.

He is survived by his wife of 48 years, Carol Hess Foster; two daughters, Linda (Gary) Moore, and Rebecca (Barry) Fell; two sons, Charlie (Christina) Foster, and Rich (Pamela) Foster; eight grandsons, Dereke, William, Tyler, Jake, Richie, Christian, Mason, and Trent; five brothers, James, Robert, Anthony (Turk), Ralph, and Tommy Foster; and two sisters, Elizabeth and Camille Foster.

Memorial Services will be held 6:00 PM Friday March 11 at Matthews-Bryson Funeral Home, 123 W. Commerce St., Smyrna. Interment will be private.
