AGE: 77 • West Palm Beach, FL

Dr. William Adolf Friz, age 77, of West Palm Beach, Florida and formerly of Wilmington, Delaware passed away on Monday, August 31, 2015.

William was born August 22, 1938 in Philadelphia PA, grew up in Wilmington DE and graduated from Mt. Pleasant High School. He attended Valley Forge Military Academy where he played drums in the Valley Forge Marching Band. He went on to attend Michigan State University on a full music scholarship. He studied biology and played drums in the Spartan Marching Band. Upon graduation he attended Temple University School of Dentistry where he met Pat, his wife of 50 years.

After graduate school, William served his residency as an Officer in the U.S. Navy at the Naval Base in Bainbridge MD. Upon completion of residency, he started his private dental practice in Wilmington DE. Shortly thereafter, he joined his partners to form Dental Associates of Delaware. The partners' business interests included Stanley's Tavern, a local Wilmington landmark.

William was a member of Wilmington Country Club where he served as Chairman of the Golf Committee and later as Club President. He was a 50 year member of the Masonic Grand Lodge of Delaware - Temple Lodge #11. He was a long time member of Aldersgate United Methodist Church in Wilmington DE, where he sang in the choir, served as Chairman of the Pastor Parrish Committee and also as Chairman of the Administrative Board. More recently he was a member of Jupiter First Church in Jupiter FL.

Throughout his adult life, he was an avid fan and supporter of drum and bugle corps, including the former Delaware Blue Rocks Drum and Bugle Corps and The Cadets of Allentown PA.

In addition to his wife Pat, he is survived by his son Robert and wife Amanda of Wilmington DE, and daughter Wendy Swanson and husband Scott of Jupiter FL, and four grandchildren - Grace, Robby, Isabel & Charlie. He is also survived by his brother Robert of Timonium MD.

A Funeral Service will be held on Tuesday, September 8, 2015 at 11:00 am at Aldersgate United Methodist Church, 2313 Concord Pike, Wilmington, DE 19803. Interment will be private. To continue the celebration of his life, a reception will be held at the Wilmington Country Club, 4825 Kennett Pike, Wilmington, DE 19807, Tuesday evening, September 8, 2015 from 5:00 to 7:00 PM.
