William Charles Perkins, 88, of Wilmington, Delaware, formerly of Glen Rock, New Jersey, passed away peacefully on September 24, 2015, at Seasons Hospice in Newark, Delaware.

Bill was born in 1927 in Paterson, New Jersey, to William S. and Mable E. Perkins (Stone). He was a graduate of Fair Lawn High School and one of the infamous original Fair Lawn "Cutters" who gave the Fair Lawn High School football team its nickname. Bill was a veteran of the U. S. Navy, having served in the Asia Pacific Theater during WWII, and received an honorable discharge in 1946. He was a long-time employee of Sandvik Steel and Thermo Electric Company in Northern New Jersey. Prior to moving to Delaware in 2012, he lived in Glen Rock, New Jersey, where he was a member of the Glen Rock Activities Club and VFW of Glen Rock.

Bill was an avid music lover who often shared his particular love for big band music by hosting "Big Bands with Bill" sessions with residents at Forwood Manor where he lived for the past three years. In addition, he was a devoted New York Rangers and Yankees fan throughout his life.

He was predeceased in 1993 by his loving wife of 44 years, Barbara J. Perkins (Smith), as well as his dear friend, Carmella Kemp, who passed away in 2008. He is survived by his daughter Patricia J. Keck and her husband Brian of Waquoit, Massachusetts, and his son Robert W. Perkins and his wife Ginny of Wilmington, Delaware. Bill was blessed with five grandchildren: Sean Keck and his wife Emily, Adam Keck and his wife Stacy, Kelley Perkins, Scott Perkins and his wife Jessica, and Todd Perkins and his wife Kristina. He also is survived by two great-grandchildren, Kylie and Colin Perkins, who brought Bill much joy and happiness over the past few years.

A visitation will be held on Sunday, September 27 from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. at the CHANDLER FUNERAL HOME, 2506 Concord Pike in Wilmington, Delaware. A second visitation will be held on Tuesday, September 29, from 10 am to noon at Vander Plaat Funeral Home, 13-31 Saddle River Road in Fair Lawn, New Jersey. Interment will follow at George Washington Memorial Park in Paramus, New Jersey.
