AGE: 66 • Newark

William "Bill" Goode, age 66 of Newark, DE peacefully passed away after a courageous battle with bladder cancer on Saturday, June 11, 2016 at home surrounded by his loving family.

Bill was born August 20, 1949 in Baltimore, MD to the late Gertrude (nee Gieron) Cullen and Alger Goode. Bill was raised in Towson, MD by his mother and stepfather, the late Newton Cullen.

He was the "ultimate" salesman! Over twenty years with Miller's Furniture, Inc., Bill worked his way from sales to Vice President of the company. After Bill left Miller's, he was the owner of the Bassett Furniture stores on Rts. 202 and 40. His greatest joys in life were experienced with his family and friends. Bill was a gentleman that never met a stranger in his life, only a friend. Bill's impact on his family, friends, and acquaintances cannot be understated and will not be forgotten by anyone.

Bill is survived by his loving and dedicated wife of 28 years, Ellen (nee McDerby); his children: Stacy Favarulo (Ralph), Carey Kane (Shaun), Todd Goode, Kelly Hodgson, and MacKenzie Goode; his grandchildren: Amanda Renninger, Bryon Harding, Galilea Garcia, Juliann Garcia and Isabella Goode; his sister, Stephanie McDonough (Don); his brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law; his dear aunts, uncle, cousins, nieces and nephews; and his faithful canine companion, Samson.

A visitation for family and friends will be held from 5 to 7PM on Wednesday, June 15, 2016 at the Doherty Funeral Home, 3200 Limestone Rd., Pike Creek, Wilmington, DE 19808.

A funeral mass will be held at 11AM on Thursday, June 16, 2016 at St. John the Beloved Church, 907 Milltown Rd., Wilmington, DE 19808.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Ministry of Caring, 506 N. Church St., Wilmington, DE 19801 or the , 150 Monument Rd., Suite 100, Bala Cynwyd, PA 19004.
