William J. Doto, Jr.

AGE: 73 • Wilmington

William J. Doto, Jr., age 73, of Wilmington, DE, died on Sunday, December 20, 2015 after a long illness. Bill was a graduate of Christ Our King Elementary School (where he was a proud member of "The Yard"), P.S. DuPont High School, and the University of Delaware, where he earned a bachelor's degree in political science. Bill was an effective and empathetic social worker and counselor for a number of employers, including: the Wilmington Medical Center, the Wilmington Housing Authority, the State of Delaware Division of Economic Services and the Division of Mental Health's Mobile Crisis Unit. He also worked for Shields Lumber and the Delaware Center for Horticulture at different points in his career, where he put his skills at home renovation and landscaping to good use. As a young man, he served in the Delaware Air National Guard.

Bill was the eldest child of the late William J. Doto, Sr. and Mary E. Doto. He is survived by his son Michael X Doto, daughter Molly E. Doto Waddell, her husband Jonathan, and his grandsons Gage and Greyson Waddell. He is also survived by his sisters, Marilyn J. Doto (William S. Montgomery), Michele Fanny Montgomery (J. Michael Montgomery), and Lori Doto, as well his brother, Richard J. Doto (Joan). Bill will also be greatly missed by his good friends Scott Kline, Christopher McLaughlin, and Patsy Hardy.

Services will be private. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions in Bill's name to the Delaware Center for Horticulture, 1810 N. DuPont Street, Wilmington, DE 19806. Online condolences may be sent by visiting www.pippinfuneralhome.com.
