William Robert Keeler Obituary
William Robert Keeler

AGE: 90 • Smyrna

William Robert Keeler of Smyrna, DE, peacefully went home to The Lord on November 3, 2016. He was 90 years young. He was born in 1926 in Townsend, DE, to George and Mildred Keeler.

He joins his wife, Ruby, his granddaughter, Cristina Rawley, his mother, father, and 6 brothers in Heaven.

William Robert, a/k/a Bob, Bobby or Bill, proudly served during WWII as a Corporal in Second Army, 728 Police Battalion, Company C, as a Military Policeman. He later served as a City of Wilmington police officer in the early 1950's and completed his remaining career as a member of the Carpenters and Joyners Local Union 1545 as a Millwright. He was a Master Mason of Harmony Lodge No. 13 in Smyrna, Delaware.

Mr. Keeler loved his family, and his greatest joy in life were his grandchildren and great-grandchildren, with whom many special memories were made. He was a spirited man who lived life to its fullest. Everyone who knew him would agree that he was one of a kind. Quite the story-teller and conversationalist, he could always bring a smile to your face no matter how hard times were. There's peace in knowing that he lived his life exactly as he wanted up until his very last day.

He is survived by his daughters, Ruby Schaeffer (Mark); Diane Iverson (Steve); and grandchildren, Melanie Ballard (Dennis); Candace Simonini (Lou); Tara Shockley (Wayne); Stephanie Wieczorek (Aaron); Mark Schaeffer, Jr. (Marie); and Clay Schaeffer; 14 great-grandchildren, Connor, Zoe, Sean, Katie, Chase, Noah, Jack, Natalie, Noelle, Alexis, Christopher, Adriana, Mason, and Faith; one sister, Katherine (Kay) Keeler; and many special friends.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m., on Wednesday, November 9th, at Daniels & Hutchison Funeral Home, 212 N. Broad St., Middletown, with visitation beginning at 11:00 a.m. for family and friends. Interment with military honors will follow at Townsend Cemetery.
