William Roy King Obituary
William Roy King

AGE: 68 • Viola

William "Bill" Roy King, of Viola, Delaware, passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family on August 2, 2016, at the age of 68. He was born in Grand Rapids, Michigan, on November 14, 1947, to the late Lawrence P. King and Ester Lucile Sheffer King.

Bill was a Vietnam Veteran who served his country honorably in the United States Air Force and the Delaware Army National Guard where he retired as SSgt. He was proud of his service and loved his country. Bill, a hardworking man and wonderful provider, worked for DuPont in Seaford for 21 years. Upon retirement, he worked for Dover Behavioral Health. He was a member of the VFW.

Bill is survived by his loving wife of almost 50 years, Stephanie Hoffecker King, three adoring daughters and sons (in-law), Monica and Carl Anderson, Heather and Kevin Guerke, and Amber and Michael Withrow. He is also survived by the lights of his life, his six granddaughters, Courtney, Cassidy, Kaylie, Noelle, Gabriella and Emerson. He is also survived by his twin brother, Fr. Larry, and his younger brother, Rich. In addition to his parents, Bill was predeceased by his sister, Mary Lou. He is survived by a host of other relatives and friends who loved him, including his hunting buddy, John Bibby.

Family, friends and the great outdoors were everything to Bill. He loved cooking, coin collecting, and country music. He was the life of every party. If you were fortunate enough to have met him, you couldn't help but to love him. He had the best sense of humor. He was the "king" of nicknames. He was honest and courageous in everything he did. He was always the strongest man in the room, and yet the most tender and loving man we have ever known and he will be missed tremendously.

Bill's viewing will be held at Torbert Funeral Chapel South at 1145 East Lebanon Road, Dover, Delaware, on Saturday, August 6, 2016, from 2-4pm followed by a memorial service.

Bill was a loyal blood donor. In lieu of flowers, please make a blood or monetary donation in Bill's name to the Blood Bank of Delaware or a monetary donation to the Home of the Brave.
