William "Jay" Scott of Ocean View, DE formerly of Wilmington, DE passed away on December 17, 2015 after a battle with prostate cancer.

A 68 year old Delaware Native who was raised in Newport Heights, Jay graduated from Conrad High School, and proudly served his country in the U.S. Army's 9th Infantry Division during the Vietnam War from 1968-1969. An Iron Worker by trade and member of Local 451, he retired with 30 years of service. For the past 38 years, Jay has made his home in Ocean View, DE where he was an active Life Member of VFW 7234. After retirement he renewed his enjoyment of riding motorcycles and put many miles on his Harley with his rider buddies.

Son of the late William A. & Jean M. Scott, Jay is survived by his devoted and beloved wife of 25 years, Joanne Marini Scott. JJ will be dearly missed by his brother Michael & his wife Lynn, his sisters & their husbands Patty & Dennis Gaskins, Dorina & Kevin Sullivan, Lisa & David DiSabatino and sister-in-law Sharon Marini. Jay also leaves behind nieces Kelly (Eric) Waltz, Stacie Gaskins (Marc), Erin (Matt) Gaus; nephews Matthew & Patrick Sullivan; also great nephews Brody & Beckett Waltz and Jaxen Gaus.

A celebration of Jay's life will be held at 12 noon on Tuesday, December 22, 2015 at the Mason Dixon VFW Post 7234, 29265 Marshy Hope Way, Ocean View, DE 19970, where friends and family may visit after 11 a.m. Military honors and a reception will follow the services. Interment will be private.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial donations in Jay's name to the Wounded Warrior Project, P.O. Box 758517, Topeka, KS 66675.
