William T. "Coop" Cooper Jr. Obituary
William T. Cooper, Jr.

AGE: 80 • Bear

William T. Cooper, Jr., age 80, of Newark, DE, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, March 7, 2017.

A native Delawarean, Bill was born in Wilmington on June 18, 1936, and was the son of the late William and Helen (Jones) Cooper. "Coop" as he was fondly referred to by his colleagues and family, made his career as an equipment manager for the University of Delaware sports teams, retiring after over 40 years of service.

Bill was often described by those who knew him as big-hearted and kind and would literally give you the shirt off his back. He adored spending time with his nieces and nephews, and shared a special bond with his nephew, Billy with whom he was particularly close. Bill and his best friend, Larry Dworski were inseparable and constant companions. A true gentleman, he will be very dearly missed by all who knew him.

In addition to his parents, Bill will be greeted in Heaven by his sisters, Helen Cole, Mae Coyle and Dorothy Gardiner; and nephew, Billy Gardiner. He is survived by many nieces and nephews who loved him tremendously; and his caregivers, JoAnn Rucker of Newark and Debbie Jarrell of Bear.

The family wishes to extend their sincere appreciation to the staff of both Millcroft Nusing Home and the surgical care team in the Christiana Care Intensive Care Unit for the exceptional care they provided to Bill.

A visitation for family and friends will be held from 9:30 am until 10:30 am on Saturday morning, March 11, 2017 at the Spicer-Mullikin Funeral Home, 121 West Park Place, Newark, DE, where a funeral service will be held at at 10:30 am.
