William W. Mee III

Age 65, of Newark, DE, passed away on December 22, 2010 after a courageous battle with cancer of the appendix.

Bill is survived by his devoted wife of 42 years Sandra; son Brian of Seattle, WA; daughter Julie Tuminello and her husband Drew of Wilmington, DE; mother Muriel Morton and sister Betty Jackson and her husband Tommy, all of Chattanooga, TN; sister Martha Frizzell and her husband Kip of Memphis, TN; aunt Jewell Newsome of Statesboro, GA; mother-in-law Elizabeth Glasscock of Chattanooga and several nieces and nephews. His father William W. Mee Jr. died in 1953.

Bill was originally from Chattanooga where he graduated from Red Bank High School. He attended the Georgia Institute of Technology, earning a bachelor's degree in Industrial Engineering, Cooperative Plan. In 1968 he began a 34 year career with DuPont, which was interrupted in 1969 by a stint in the US Navy during the Viet Nam War. At DuPont, he finished his career as a senior consultant for the international transfer policy. He was chairman of the National Foreign Trade Council's International Compensation Committee in 1991. Bill never missed a day of work due to illness. After retirement in 2002, Bill volunteered for several causes, primarily the Blood Bank of Delmarva (having the second most volunteer hours in 2007) and the National Multiple Sclerosis Society. He mentored several students at Downes Elementary School, mentored a Chinese friend who was learning English, and worked with Habitat for Humanity and PFLAG. Family and international travel were his passions.

Friends may call on Monday, December 27, from 5-7 pm at the MCCRERY & HARRA FUNERAL HOMES AND CREMATORY, 3710 Kirkwood Highway, Wilmington, DE 19808 where a celebration of Bill's life will begin at 7 pm. Burial will be on Tuesday, December 28 at 10 am in the Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Bear, DE.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions to either the Helen F Graham Cancer Center, Development Office, P.O.
