Lesley Christine Reach Obituary
Lesley Christine Reach

AGE: 67 • Newark

Lesley Christine Reach of Newark, DE died Friday February 21, 2014 at Seasons Hospice, Newark Delaware. Her loving husband was at her side. She was 67.

Lesley was born in Philadelphia, PA to the late James A. and Elizabeth M. Hall. As a child of Navy parents Lesley lived in several locations including Guam, San Diego, Virginia Beach and Bainbridge, Maryland. She graduated from Christiana High School and received a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Delaware in 1968. Lesley was a well-recognized educator teaching at May B. Leasure Elementary School and Gauger-Cobbs Middle School.

Lesley married John S. Reach, Sr. on November 21, 1970. The couple resided in Newark, DE. Following the arrivals of their two sons, Lesley retired from the Christiana School District and dedicated herself several activities involving children education including CCD, Cub Scouts, and other organizations and schools.

Lesley was a devoted wife, mother and doting grandmother. She spared no expense of time, effort, or money when raising her two sons (John, Jr. and Mark). She wanted only the best for them and it was her life's work to usher them into the best possible versions of themselves. She considered carefully their schooling, preparing extra lesson plans for them as needed, and spent countless hours driving them to the many sports, music and other activities that enriched their formative years. Looking at her grown boys now, we can safely report that whatever she did worked great!

As a grandmother, she loved her three grandchildren most tenderly. From the time they were babies she would lean in close and whisper things to them - what things we will never know, but they were said very sweetly! As they got older she delighted in hearing about their every new skill and experience, from walking to speaking to just splashing in puddles.

Lesley is survived by her husband of more than 43 years: John Sr.; two sons: John Jr. of New Haven, CT, and Mark of Williamstown, MA; and three grandchildren: John III, Evelyn, and Luke. Lesley's sister, Karen, resides in Wenatchee, WA. Lesley has three surviving cousins: Doris Kelly Leimer of Warminster, PA, Daniel Kelly of Thorofare, NJ, and Virginia Scott of Swarthmore, PA.

Funeral Mass will be held at 11:00 am on Saturday March 22, 2012 at St. Mary of the Assumption Church, 7200 Lancaster Pike, Hockessin. Interment will follow in All Saints Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that contributions be made in Lesley's memory to the Archmere Academy Endowment Fund, 3600 Philadelphia Pike, Claymont, DE 19703.
