Dr. Santos Fernandez Delgado

AGE: 84 • Milford

Dr. Santos F. Delgado, age 84, passed away in Spain on Sunday, February 23, 2014. Santos was born in Flariz, Orense, Spain on May 30, 1929 to the late Santos Fernandez and Sara Delgado. He graduated from medical school in Santiago de Compostelo, Spain, and completed his residency in Radiology at the Graduate Hospital in Philadelphia. Dr. Delgado began his medical career at Pulaski General Hospital in Pulaski, Virginia, where he remained for several years before moving to Milford to accept a position as Radiologist with Milford Memorial Hospital. While still working closely with the hospital Radiology Department, he and Dr. Leslie Dobson formed Sussex Radiologists Associates working not only as business partners but also as good friends for many years. Dr. Delgado retired from his profession in 1993. Santos enjoyed his retirement whether at his home in Milford or in Spain. He loved to paint and had a passion for cooking, preparing chef caliber dishes for his family and friends. The grandchildren were his pride and joy and spent lots of time under his tutelage in the kitchen.

In addition to his parents, Dr. Delgado was preceded in death by his brother, Cesar Fernandez. He is survived by his wife of 10 years, Bonita Maria "Bonnie" Delgado; two sons, David S. Delgado of Charlotte, NC, and Robert S. Delgado of Tampa, FL; a daughter, Sara A. Delgado of Montclair, NJ; a step-daughter, Amy Dolbow of Middletown; and five grandchildren, Lucas and Jackson Delgado, both age 10; Trevor Dolbow, age 13, Colby Dolbow, age 11, and Andrew Dolbow, age 8.

A memorial mass will be held at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday, March 8, 2014 at St. John the Apostle Catholic Church, 506 Seabury Ave., Milford. Interment will be held privately. In lieu of flowers, the family has requested memorial contributions to the Wounded Warrior Project, P.O.
