Carson F. Chandler "Jerry"

Carson Fitzgerald Chandler, III, 75, of Wilmington, DE., died at his home on March 27, 2014. Jerry was born in Harrisburg, PA., to Carson F. and Dorothy Chandler.

He attended Steelton High School, where he was a manager and photographer for their sports teams. Jerry then attended Cornell University, and graduated from Western Maryland College, Westminster, MD. He was employed for 21 year as a financial analyst for the DuPont Company, retiring in 1994. He enjoyed genealogy and was a student of the Civil War - he was a member of the Civil War Education Association (CWEA). Jerry was an avid sports enthusiast (football was his favorite) and he was a Ravens and Eagles fan.

A devoted Christian, it was very important to him to be of service to his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ and in his later life, he served in the church as a Sunday School teacher and small group leader. Jerry was a current, active member of Berea Presbyterian Church and was a former member and Elder at First Alliance Church.

Devoted to his family, with a special affection for his 4 granddaughters, Jerry is survived by his wife, Linda E. Chandler; 5 daughters: Betsy Chandler of Baltimore, MD., Jeri Lynn Chandler (Tom Whitworth) of Sonoma, CA., Lori Wadman (Eric) of Hockessin, DE, Cindy Dean (Jon) of Elkton, MD., and Jennifer Chandler Nesbitt (Geoff) of Betterton, MD; 4 granddaughters: Robyn Nesbitt, Erin Wadman, Moira Nesbitt, and Rebecca Wadman; and 1 sister, Dorothy Welsh (Joe) of Snow Hill, MD. Jerry as also survived by 4 nephews as well as great-nephews and one great-niece.

A viewing will be held from 6-8pm, Tuesday, April 1 at the McCrery & Harra Funeral Home, 3710 Kirkwood Hwy (Route 2, East at Duncan Rd.) Another viewing will be held from 10-11am, Wednesday, April 2 at Berea Presbyterian Church, 957 Old Lancaster Pike, Hockessin, DE., 19707, followed at 11am by a funeral service. Interment will be at Silverbrook Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests honoring the memory of Jerry by sending a contribution to Berea Presbyterian Church or the Sunday Breakfast Mission, 110 N. Poplar St., Wilmington, DE 19801.
