AGE: 91 • Wilmington

Walter Ward passed away peacefully on Saturday, May 31, 2014.

He was born in Audubon, NJ to the late Charles and Wilhelmina Ward.

Walter served his country with the U.S. Army during WWII. He retired in 1980 from the DuPont Company and a member of their, Retired Club of Office Services. Walter also was a member of the Newark Senior Center, the Great Day Singers. Besides being a member of St. John the Beloved Catholic Church he attended Hockessin United Methodist Church with his wife Betty. He enjoyed traveling, theatre and gardening.

Walter is survived by his second wife of 20 years, Betty Harrington Ward. His first wife of 38 years, Teresa Vaccaro Ward died in 1991. He is also survived by 2 stepsons, Herbert M. Harrington, Jr. of Wilmington and Keith S. Harrington of Jacksonville, FL; 2 step-grandchildren, Richard C., Jr. and Cody; a sister, Ruth Ward of Chester, PA; a brother-in-law, Kenneth Neff of Lock Haven, PA and many nieces and nephews.

A viewing will be held on Thursday May 5, from 11:00am to 12 noon at the MCCRERY & HARRA FUNERAL HOMES, 3710 Kirkwood Hwy, Wilmington. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 12:30pm at St. John the Beloved Church, 907 Milltown Road, Wilmington, DE 19808. Burial will be in All Saints Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers contributions may be made in his name to St. John the Beloved Church.
