I thank each and every one of you for sharing such caring and loving messages... I see you all thought of Toby as I did; I knew he was bigger than life, my heart is so happy you saw that too... I can't quite find the right words to express how much I appreciate the stories, the memories, the candles and condolences. Whether you knew Toby from back in the neighborhood, or just met him this past year, the messages you've left have touched me deeply, and I thank you.

Sarah and children, I knew Tony when we called him Toby and have pictures of him holding my son when Tony was just two. What a wonderful young boy he was then and I'm sure he turned into a wonderful man just from what I have read in this guest book. May the memories of his life bring you peace at such a sad time. You along with Lynn and Tony Jr. are in my prayers God Bless You.

I had known Tony years ago and our paths didn't cross again until this past spring when we were both volunteering for an event and looked at each other and both said- I know you!

Once we got reacquainted, I would see him in the BJ's produce department and chat for at least 10 minutes. I saw him there last week, where he updated me on his family's activities.

What a huge loss for all of us, but at least Sarah and their children had a great guy in their lives that loved them and was very proud of them. He will be greatly missed.

Tony,

Thanks for all of the memories. I will never forget the night we all went camping in Carousel Park. It was freezing, dark, and all of the adults were annoyed - except for you. You were laughing, having fun, and enjoying the moment. That is how you lived your life. You always seemed to be living in the moment. You lived large and died the hero that we all knew you to be. I will miss you for the rest of my life and look forward to seeing you on the other side.

Your friend,

Jamie Gaughan

October 27, 2011

We feel that Tony lived each day to the fullest. He always had such a positive attitude and never seemed to sweat the small stuff. If he ever encountered a road block he would put on that happy smile and search out those rose colored glasses! He could dazzle a crowd with his wit/humor and stories. Everyone knew how he loved to cook and entertain. Tony was a tall, handsome man ,with a rich voice and a heart of GOLD. Nobody was a stranger to him!
Tony's greast pride in life was his family and his beautiful wife that he often boasted being a "10" on anyone's scale!
We're so glad that he found such joy and pleasure watching John grow in the sport of hockey. He bragged tirelessly to Mouse about all the fun and excitement that could be found on the ice. Not only did he get to bond with John, but the whole family enjoyed the social aspect of being the spectators. Those happy times will form lasting memories, that will be carried through life.
We consider your family to be part of our family, you know it isn't always about blood connections.
Mouse will miss all those fun times you two shared together... watching the "boys" Liam, Nathan,John and Olivia play and bond,he will miss those lengthy conversations and debates, you were no.2 on his speed dial...he won't forget you and he will keep an eye on the kids...doing his best to help guide them the way he knows you would want him to.
Good bye (for now) our friend and may your soul rest in peace. Thanks for all the memories. We love you and your beautiful family!

Wendy, your brother and Andy Lynch and I hung out all the time at the Brandywine River. Rockford Park was like our own back yard. Our son Jackson was a classmate of John's for many years at Odyssey Charter School. We had the pleasure of crossing paths at many school functions over the years. The benefit of a school community is that you are able to witness the love and commitment that parents share with one with another for their children. We hope you feel the community supporting you now. Words of condolence and sorrow were expressed among our Odyssey families last night in Tony's honor. We are sorry for your loss.

so incredibly saddened to hear of tony's passing, a buddy of mine and my daughter mackenzie and olivia are friends at odyssey.  i could always count on a long conversation whenever and wherever i ran into him.  i allowed an extra 20 minutes in my time when going in to bjs, because i knew no matter what time i went in he would come walking out of the doors while i was standing at the lunchmeat counter.  we talked about everything, most of all, our kids and their traveling for their different sports.  i had just seen him last tuesday and chatted with him in the milk aisle, telling me a story about his cat and making the cat attack his son john in bed in the morning, cause i had just gotten a kitten and he was giving me advice.  lots of thoughts and prayers to sarah and their family...tony will be truly missed and i will miss talking to u my friend..

Dear Sarah and Family:

There are no words to express my condolences to you. I am so sorry for your loss. Tony was a wonderful man and always so kind and fun to be around. If there is anything that I can do to help you through this most difficult time, please do not hesitate to ask. I only really started to get to know "Frenchie" over this season of hockey and begin a friendship with you, dear Sarah, which I am most thankful for. The thing I will remember most about Tony is that he included everyone in the "Ducks" family and was most kind to everyone he met. Please know your family is in my every thought. With much love, (Colin's Mom #49).

I am so saddened to hear... To my family and my extended family, no doubt this is impossible to understand and just as impossible to accept. I am praying hard for you, that God gives you a bit of peace amidst the storm in your hearts, that your mind may be overwhelmed w/ the happiest times w/ Toby and some strength to get through this together..you will. Toby may you rest in peaceful bliss, in Heaven w/ the other angels who've gone before us...kiss my Jake for me please! I know he was waiting at the gates to show ya around!
Peace and Love to you all... xoxo

Tony has been my neighbor for the past 10 years, between assisting my husband with many, many household repairs and enhancements or the sharing of barbecue food over the fence, he was always there caring and sharing being a great neighbor and dear friend. He will be greatly missed in our community. We will be praying for Sarah and the children and hoping she knows that we will all be there for her in anyway she needs us to be.

Tony will be dearly missed. He was truly unique in the way that he could make you feel so special from the moment you first met him and throughout your friendship. He was warm, gregarious, endearing, and loyal. His passing has certainly taught me a life lesson about making strangers feel like friends and friends feel like family. He was very generous in sharing the friendships that he held whether in his neighborhood or through his extended "hockey family". I must admit that was one of his many talents that I will never fully possess.

He was proud of his children in a way that was endearing. I never saw him more excited than when he would talk lovingly about funny life situations that our children present to us.

I will be forever in his debt for being a part of the union between our two families - I suspect many others will say the same. I will miss you Tony. You were truly a man in full.

With love,

Ryan

I will always remember Toby's laughter as he tormented me as a little sister growing up (and whenever we saw him as an adult, he never passed an opportunity to poke fun and joke around). He always told a story with a smile and his loud Italian voice, gave the biggest hugs with his strong soldier arms, and remembered to tell you he loved you with such a kind heart. I always thought he was so cool and looked forward to when he and Wendy came to visit us while growing up. To me he will always be my big goofy brother. We (my entire extended family included) are all so sorry for the loss of Tony (Toby to me always) to the entire family. You are all in our thoughts and prayers during this really difficult time. With love…
