Evelyn L. Botbyl Obituary
Evelyn L. Botbyl

AGE: 92 •

Evelyn L. Botbyl "Cute Little Nana", age 92, born Evelyn Leap Flitcraft, on April 15, 1922, to Harty Leap Flitcraft (Johnson) and Floyd Flitcraft, on Providence Planation outside of Elmer, NJ. Evelyn passed away surrounded by her loving family on August 6, 2014 on the Seasons Hospice Unit at Christiana Hospital. Evelyn was a creative writer, talented artist (Maxine and Calvin were her favorites!), gifted story teller and family historian. Evelyn was a cute, kind hearted, courageous woman and true fighter until the end.

A graduate of Bridgeton High School, and later a nursery school teacher in four states, she followed her soldier husband prior to his World War II deployment. Her travels took her to Virginia, Santa Fe and Hollywood. Upon his return, they established a family business, Twill Cleaners, throughout the state of New Jersey.

Evelyn lived her long and full life with elegance and grace and an inherited Quaker stoicism.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 51 years, Aaron, and sisters, Ada Fitzpatrick and Althea Coombs. Evelyn was the mother of three: Aaron Jr., whom she affectionately called "Ernie" (wife Faith), John (wife Debbie) and Jane (husband Jim). She leaves her legacy of 11 grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren and 2 great great-grandchildren. She is also survived by two sisters, Geraldine North and Lorraine Ott and numerous nieces and nephews.

A Christian graveside service and celebration of Evelyn's life will take place on August 8, 2014 at 10:30am, Chestnut Grove Cemetery, Elmer, NJ, facilitated by Layton Funeral Home. Evelyn will be missed by all who knew and loved her. She was a beautiful woman with a beautiful soul!
